Mera Ped is more than just a tree-planting campaign—it’s a movement to nurture young hearts with green values, empower schools with environmental leadership, and shape a sustainable future— one sapling, one child at a time.
It’s a visionary green initiative by Ek Kadam Sansthan that aims to instill environmental consciousness in young children by involving them directly in tree plantation efforts. Focused on students from Class 1 to 5, this program educates children about the value of trees and empowers them to become lifelong guardians of nature.
Through engaging school-based plantation events, awareness sessions, and hands-on participation, each child is given a sapling to plant and care for at home. We ensure accountability and continuity by collecting monthly growth data and sharing progress reports with schools—integrating environmental responsibility into their academic ecosystem.
This is India’s most cost-effective plantation campaign, with a per-tree cost of just ₹50. Our goal is ambitious yet achievable: to reach over 10 million children across the country during the years 2025–2027, cultivating not just trees, but a future generation of green leaders.
Activites
- Conducting plantation drives within school premises combined with interactive sessions to educate children on the importance of trees and sustainability.
- Distributing one plant to each participating child for plantation at home. We track growth for up to 20 months and share regular summaries with schools to integrate into their annual reviews.
- Creating India’s largest active green volunteer pool by engaging students, teachers, and citizens in ongoing plantation and monitoring efforts.
- Organizing dedicated plantation drives on birthdays, anniversaries, festivals, and special occasions as celebrated by our volunteers and supporters.
